Primula viallii

Primula viallii is a very unusual primula, summer flowering, and quite dramatic in its flowering. Heads of tiny purple flowers open from the bottom up. Flower heads may reach 30cm in height above lower foliage. The 'Chinese Pagoda Primrose' makes a dramatic show with its tiny red buds at the flower stem tip. Loves a moist position in full sun or partial shade.
